Welcome to "Il Tesoro Italiano", a passion project born from the depths of lockdown from a desperate need of international travel, cultural connection and culinary obsessions.

My name is Vanessa, a proud Italian and Maltese creative who, after her European holiday was cancelled due to a certain pandemic, has delved into connecting with her culture and heritage. 

My Italian family hails from Northern Italy, from the regions of Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. I was raised on Sunday dinners at nonna's house, salami days with nonno and with the strict rules of "no football is to be played near the giardino".

My Maltese family is from the small island of Gozo, in the heart of the Mediterranean. Being Italy's small next-door neighbour, I have been fortunate enough to grow up with delicious recipes and a beautiful heritage which my grandparents shared with me.

This community is a way to connect those who are Italian, passionate about Italian culture or just curious to learn more about Italy as a whole. Not only it's rich history but also the Italy of today! Through food, travel, art and community, I hope I can add snippets of Italian culture, heritage and beauty to your day!
